In response to the rapidly changing energy paradigm characterized by decarbonization, decentralization, and digitalization in the energy industry, we have established a flexible and convergent academic organization with five tracks. This initiative aims to cultivate advanced talents who can swiftly adapt and understand the latest energy convergence research and technologies, and create innovations in the future energy sector.
Technologies without guaranteed safety are difficult for society to accept. In the era of preparing for a carbon-neutral society, various new technologies will develop and evolve in the field of energy transformation. These emerging energy facility technologies are becoming more complex and challenging, emphasizing the importance of safety in novel technologies. As electrical safety technologies evolve, there is a growing need for professionals with interdisciplinary knowledge and diverse experiences, shifting away from a single-technology-focused workforce. Our graduate program, Intelligent Electrical Safety Concentration, places a strong emphasis on education that enables students to understand and integrate next-generation energy technologies, fostering professionals for the field.
To achieve carbon neutrality, industries related to energy safety must experience rapid growth, unlike anything seen before. Alongside this industry growth, there will be an increasing demand for interdisciplinary talents who possess the knowledge and skills to safely operate these technologies. Fuel cells are the most critical technology for the upcoming hydrogen economy and the era of sustainable energy. They offer a pathway to achieve carbon neutrality through hydrogen-based energy and enable the creation of the most efficient systems. However, practical fuel cell power generation technology still faces numerous technical limitations, such as the inability to flexibly adapt to energy demands. Fuel Cell Concentration was established to overcome these limitations in fuel cell technology, develop practical power generation solutions, lead the energy market, and ultimately introduce a new paradigm in global power technology.

Semiconductors are a groundbreaking technology that has significantly transformed human life, driving the 21st-century digital information technology revolution. They constitute a core industry, occupying a substantial portion of South Korea's exports. Moreover, semiconductors play a crucial role in addressing the global energy challenge and promoting low-carbon growth by facilitating essential energy efficiency and electrification. KENTECH Power Semiconductor Concentration conducts research spanning materials, devices, circuits, systems, and advanced analysis, aiming to realize semiconductor technology breakthroughs that will contribute to the nation's economic development.
Semiconductors are a vital industry, representing 19.9% of South Korea's total exports, making the development of top talents a national priority. Students with expertise in semiconductors from this concentration can grow into essential national talents in various fields. Furthermore, given the lack of universities in South Korea focusing on power semiconductors, KENTECH's Power Semiconductor Concentration equips graduates with distinctive skills and unique expertise.
To achieve technological leaps, industries, academia, and government-funded research institutes all require postgraduate talents responsible for future technology development. As a result, Students who have completed this program can explore diverse career paths. Graduates have ventured into universities, government-funded research institutes (KIST, ETRI, KOPTI, KERI, KANC, KIMS, KRISS, ADD, etc.), and companies (Samsung, KEPCO, KPX, SK Hynix Inc., LG Electronics, LG Display, SDC, Hyundai Motors, Hyundai Mobis, On-Semiconductor, Infineon Technology, ASML, Applied Materials, etc.). Nuclear power generation without guaranteed safety is difficult for society to accept. The development of inherently safe reactors is essential. Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are reactors with a capacity of less than 300 MW, and they ensure safety through natural cooling if an accident occurs. Their capacity is determined by the number of predefined modules without the need for new designs. SMRs are the next-generation nuclear power systems, and the SMR Concentration program provides opportunities to nurture talents capable of leading the future of nuclear power generation.
Achieving carbon neutrality is challenging without the use of nuclear energy. Internationally, SMRs, which serve as models for next-generation nuclear power plants, are entering full-scale research and development. It is expected that, based on our current technology, we can secure world-leading capabilities in this field.
